Former Super Eagles’ number one goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, has announced his retirement from the game. The Wolverhampton Wanderers FC safe hands, diagnosed with acute leukaemia in July 2017 but who entered into complete remission only last month, announced the decision on Friday afternoon. Last month, on entering into complete remission, Ikeme had announced on his twitter handle: “After a tough year and intense chemotherapy treatment, I would like to let everyone know I am in complete remission. I still have hurdles to get over to be cured but I can hopefully now move forward with some normality. “I would like to thank my family/friends, to start with who have gone above and beyond for me. The support I have received from Wolves/Nigeria, the football world and from people from all over the world has been hard to put into words. I can’t thank everyone at the Christie and Heartlands Hospital enough for their care!!! What next who knows…I’m just taking it a day at a time.”
Ikeme was in goal for Nigeria’s first three matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying series (home and away against Swaziland in the preliminary stage, and away to Zambia in the opener to the group phase campaign) before being diagnosed of acute leukaemia . His first cap was in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Tanzania in Dar es Salaam in September 2015.

Chelsea fc have accepted €75million From Man United For Winger Willian

Manchester United have seen a bid for Willian accepted, according to reports.
Italian outlet Tuttosport suggest the two clubs have reportedly agreed terms which would see the Brazil international complete a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Chelsea are understood to be keen to cash-in on Willian as new manager Maurizio Sarri looks to generate funds in order to strengthen his squad.

Willian is one player reportedly in the shop window and Jose Mourinho is understood to be keen on a reunion with the 29-year-old.
And now reports in Italy suggest Chelsea have accepted an offer of roughly €75million for the winger.
Barcelona had been keen on a move for the forward, however United have emerged as favourites to sign him after the La Liga side completed a deal for fellow Brazilian winger Malcom.
Despite the interest Sarri recently suggested he was hopeful of keeping the Brazilian at the club: “It’s a pleasure to have Courtois, to have Willian, to have Hazard, but it [their futures] doesn’t depend on me, not only on me.
In other transfer news, United are favourites to sign Ante Rebic in the summer transfer market, according to one bookmakers.
The World Cup star looks set to quit Eintracht Frankfurt this summer following his impressive performances for Croatia during the summer, and BetStars believe he could be Manchester bound.
Jose Mourinho’s side have been constantly linked with a move for the 24-year-old in the coming weeks and have been made favourites to complete a deal should he leave the Bundesliga club.

Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal on alert to sign £100m-plus Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele is now reportedly ready to leave Barcelona after the arrival of Brazilian winger Malcom. Barca have wrapped up a surprise £37million transfer deal for the Bordeaux forward and Malcom has now passed his medical after Roma had announced he was heading to Serie A. Dembele though is predominantly a right winger, just as Malcom is, and now he is understood to be unhappy and considering his position at the Camp Nou. Dembele, who was a £135.5million signing last summer from Borussia Dortmund, is now exploring his options, according to Cadena Cope. The 21-year-old has been linked with Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, but it seemed more in hope that reality with the player happy and Barca keen to keep him in Catalonia. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had been chasing the France star for some time and there had been rumours of the possibility of a loan move to Anfield. Josep Maria Bartomeu though poured cold water on Liverpool’s hopes of signing Dembele in June. Bartomeu though poured cold water on the talk, he said: “[Philippe] Coutinho, Dembele are for us a big investment. They are very important players that we expect from them a lot.” However, it would appear that 21-year-old will be plying his trade at the Nou Camp again next season. Bartomeu said: “[Philippe] Coutinho, Dembele are for us a big investment. They are very important players that we expect from them a lot. Now though with added competition for places Dembele may well look elsewhere after struggling for game time last season through injury and poor form.

One of them started scrolling and saw a white lady in my phone before concluding that I am a “Yahoo Boy”. “Before I could explain myself, he seized me by the trouser and dragged me into their red vehicle parked close by. They said that they were taking me to Asaba, that I should call my master, the person teaching me the Yahoo job but I told them that I am not a “Yahoo Boy. “After I declined being an Internet Fraudster (Yahoo Boy), they said they were taking me to Abraka Police Division since I was proving stubborn and that after they are true with catching other “Yahoo Boys”, they would take us to station. “While on motion, they sighted another person buying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at Fejikev Filling Station close to the police station and was operating his mobile phone, before diverting into the station. police in Lagos State arrested a 19-year-old lady who reportedly planned her own kidnapping

The police in Lagos State have arrested a 19-year-old woman, Dorcas Adilewa, who reportedly planned her kidnap to defraud her father.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspect hatched the plan in connivance with one Ifeoluwa Ogunbanjo, her friend, who provided location and a phone to contact her parents.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said that the suspects were arrested on July 13 following a report by the suspect’s father at Ketu Police Station.
“On July 7 at about 5 p.m., Adilewa Taiwo of No. 3, Kosumi Lane, Bello-Ketu, Lagos, reported at Ketu Police Station that he received a call from phone number 09057432362.
“He was told that his daughter, Dorcas Adilewa, was being held hostage and that if he does not want her killed, he should pay a ransom of N600,000 to secure her release.
“Investigation into the case was immediately commenced and the above phone number that was used by the suspects was geo-located to Ijebu-Igbo area of Ogun State.
“The O/C Anti-Kidnapping led his operatives to Ijebu-Igbo on July 12 and combed the area in search of the supposed victim till the following morning.”
The commissioner said that while the search was ongoing at Ijebu-Igbo, the location of the supposed kidnappers changed to Ikotun in Lagos and the search party had to move from Ijebu-Igbo to IKotun in Lagos to ‘rescue’ the victim.
“When the fake kidnappers realised that the Police were closing in on them, the supposed victim decided to call the complainant to inform him that she has been released, after he had deposited the sum of N8,000 in her UBA account number: 2087804991.”
Mr Imohimi said that when Ms Adilewa was being debriefed upon her release, she confessed that she actually planned the fake kidnap with her friend, one Ogunbanjo.
“She provided her with accommodation at No. 174, Adeboye road, Okesopin, Ijebu Igbo in Ogun State to hide and the phone that they used in demanding for the ransom.
“Investigation is in progress and on completion, the suspects will be charged to court accordingly,” the commissioner said.
Meanwhile, the police in Lagos have arrested Jacob Dare for alleged attempted kidnapping.
Mr Imohimi said that case was reported at Ayobo Division, Lagos, on July 17 by Ebhoboghe Rufus.
He said that the suspect had attempted to kidnap the complainant’s daughter at the Christ Anointed Church, Ayobo, Lagos.
The commissioner said the suspect, who was not a member of the church, attempted to kidnap the complainant’s daughter by luring her to follow him with a gift of N50 note.
He said that the suspect attempted to escape from the scene of the incident before he was arrested by members of the church.
Mr Imohimi said that the suspect, who was pretending to be insane, later abandoned his art of trickery and admitted that he was of sound mind and he only went to the Church to worship.
“He then cunningly defended his act of luring the little girl with a N50 note by claiming that he was only asking for direction from the little girl and her mother,” he said.

Presidency: over 9m Nigerians have benefited from CTP of the NSIP

The Presidency announced on Monday that over 9m individuals have benefitted from the Cash Transfer Program (CTP) of the National Social Investment Program (NSIP).
The Special Adviser to the President on NSIP, Maryam Uwais, said this at the One-Day Sensitization Meeting of Stakeholders on Activities of the National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) which held at Abuja on Monday.
According to Uwais, the program, which is being coordinated by NASSCO, has also resulted in the feeding of over 8.5 million schoolchildren across 24 states in the federation.
“We are trying to build a roadmap for social investment to ensure the improvement on the poverty indices in Nigeria,” she said.
“With this, the government is able to start a program for people with very low inventory.
“In order to sustain this program, Nigerians need to know what it is all about.”
The National Coordinator, NASSCO, Mr. Iorwa Apera, disclosed that NASSCO has partnered with the state governments and established State Operations Coordinating Offices (SOCU) in 34 states and the FCT.
According to the data, NASSCO has registered a total of Five hundred and Three Thousand, Fifty-Five (503,055) Households with a total of One Million Nine Hundred and Ninety-Nine Thousand, One Hundred and Two (1,999,102) individuals across 19 of the 34 states and the FCT.
“The mandate of NASSCO is to build a data base of poor and vulnerable households in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) using appropriate targeting mechanism in the identification of the poor and vulnerable,” Apera explained.
“In addition, it is to set up standards to support Social Safety-Nets interventions in the country and coordinate all social safety nets intervention programmes in the country amongst others.
“The database under reference is domiciled in the Ministry of planning in every state and could be used for planning and decision making nationwide.
“This database could also be accessed by development partners for social interventions.
Apera also stressed the need for the state stakeholders to submit their registries of the poor and vulnerable households to the national level.
“In order for there to be synergy between the state and national registry and recorded data, we need the stakeholders of each state to send us their own registry of poor and vulnerable households in Nigeria.”

students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University protested the death of one of their colleagues

The students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka have protested the death of one of their colleagues, Mr Francis Mmadubuobi, a final year student of the Department of Applied Microbiology and Brewing.
The students alleged that lack of medical facilities in the school contributed to the death of Mmadubuobi.
The deceased student was said to have been taken to the institution’s medical centre after he collapsed on the court while playing basketball with his colleagues last weekend at the premises of the university, but was said to have died as a result of lack of attention.
The students while protesting his death called on the school’s management to equip its Medical Centre or scrap it immediately.
They marched in their thousands from the university’s campus to Arroma Junction, Awka, a journey of over four kilometres, carrying placards with various inscriptions.
Some of the placards read: “Unizik medical, a death trap” and “UNIZIK, tell us what killed Francis, among others.
The students, all dressed in black, were equally chanting songs, meant to provoke the management of the institution.
According to the Departmental President, Mr Prosper Chisimdi, who narrated the situation as he witnessed it, “I feel bitter about everything. Francis, our course mate slumped while playing basketball in school. We rushed him to the school clinic.
“On getting to the place, no single doctor was there to attend to him. The nurse there couldn’t even attend to him and he was right before us dying. After many hours, a female doctor came and was looking for her apparatus. No oxygen was in the clinic.
“We rushed Francis to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital in the school ambulance. I was inside the ambulance holding Francis foot, it was damn cold, his eyes were already open. I was scared, I knew only miracle could happen because Francis had no impulse.
“On getting to Amaku General Hospital, the doctors said it was already late, Francis had no life in him again. They left him unattended, we felt it has happened already.”
The students warned the management of the institution against taking any form of sanction against their protesting colleagues as the action was engineered by the sense of loss they all felt.
But in his reaction, the Director, Information, Public Relations and Protocol, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu, who spoke on behalf of the institution, refuted the allegation, saying Francis had already died before he was rushed to the school’s clinic.
Ojukwu, in a press release, said: “The deceased was quickly rushed to the University Medical Centre, but had no pulse upon examination.
“This means that he had died before being brought to the University Medical Centre.
“He was thereafter taken to Teaching Hospital Amaku for further attempt at salvaging an already bad situation. He was without pulse and confirmed dead.”
He called on the students to maintain calm, while appealing to them to demonstrate with caution. He prayed for the repose of the soul of Mmadubuobi.

Mesut Ozil hang his boot says "I will no longer stand for being a scapegoat"

The Arsenal attacker has hit out at the treatment he received from the German football association (DFB), confirming he will no longer wear the jersey.

Mesut Ozil has confirmed that he is retiring from international football with immediate effect following the "treatment he received from the DFB."
The Arsenal attacker claims that the way he has been treated by the German football association makes him "no longer want to wear the German national team shirt."
DFB president Reinhard Grindel was the focus of the third and final part of the statement, as Ozil hit out at the official, claiming: "I will no longer stand for being a scapegoat for his incompetence and inability to do his job properly."
Following Germany's disastrous World Cup performance, where they failed to get out of their groups and lost to both Mexico and South Korea, Ozil was heavily criticised by the media and by the DFB, with Grindel even urging the midfielder to make a public statement on his meeting with Erdogan, also questioning his credentials as an international player following the incident.
Ozil detailed how Grindel attempted to benefit from the fall-out of the player's meeting with Erdogan, aiming to use it as a means to express his own political views and undermine Ozil in the process. He also accused the DFB president of racism, stating that "I am German when we win, but I am an immigrant when we lose."
As well as Grindel, the 29-year-old highlighted the actions of politician Bernd Holzhauer who called Ozil a "goat-f***er" and Chief of German Theatre Werner Steer who wished for the footballer to "p*** back to Anatolia."
The way Ozil has been treated by German media, politicians and especially the DFB has caused him to make the "difficult decision" to announce his international retirement, saying that: "I now feel unwanted and think that what I have achieved since my international debut in 2009 has been forgotten."
In those nine years, Ozil has played 92 times for his country, scoring 23 goals along the way. He was part of the side that lifted the 2014 World Cup and also helped Germany to the semi-finals of the 2012 and 2016 European Championships.
Ozil also went with Germany to the 2010 and 2018 World Cups and was named national team player of the year five times.

18 killed 10 kidnapped as Boko Haram Jijadist Terrorist Attack Chad

Eighteen people have been killed in an attack by suspected Boko Haram jihadists in the Lake Chad region, a Chadian military source said Sunday.
“Boko Haram elements attacked a village south of Daboua,” not far from Chad’s border with Niger, at around 9:00 pm (2000 GMT) on Thursday, the military source said.
The assailants “cut the throats of 18 people, wounded two others and kidnapped 10 women”.
Boko Haram’s Islamist insurgency has devastated the region since it took up arms in 2009 in Nigeria, leaving at least 20,000 people dead, displacing more than two million others and triggering a humanitarian crisis.
Chad, Cameroon and Niger have all joined the military effort by Nigeria to crush Boko Haram.

Real Madrid officially unveils Vinicius Junior

The 18-year-old Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior was officially unveiled by Real Madrid on Friday after completing his blockbuster transfer from Rio’s Flamengo.

Madrid signed the player two years ago for 45 million euros (A$71M), in a deal that would become official after his 18th birthday on July 12, 2018.

Vinicius Junior was accompanied on his trip to Madrid by compatriot and former Real player Ronaldo, who led Brazil to the World Cup title in 2002.

“Vinicius is a player with a lot of quality and talent. He’s the biggest prospect for the future of Brazilian football,” said Ronaldo.

The player said he was ready to seize his chance.

“This is the best opportunity a football player could have,”
said the youngster who joined Flamengo at age 10.

“I’m going to sacrifice a lot to show that I deserve this opportunity,” he said at his presentation alongside Madrid president Florentino Perez.
