Serena Williams has given birth to a baby girl with her fiancé Alexis Ohanian, according to widespread reports in America. The baby was delivered on Friday at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, near her home. "Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well," WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd wrote on Twitter. Serena's sister, Venus, briefly referenced the imminent arrival as she took to the court ahead of her US Open third round match against Maria Sakkari. "Obviously I'm super excited,” said the baby’s aunt Venus Williams. “Words can't describe." Williams' fiancée, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, said he believed the six-time US Open champion would be a fantastic mother in an interview on American television in August. "She's very good at a lot of things and well on her way to being an awesome mom too," said Ohanian. The 23-time grand slam champion said she hopes to return for the Australian Open in January.

Williams was a three weeks pregnant when she beat her sister Venus to win the Australian Open back in January. She and Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, became engaged in December. In an interview with The Telegraph earlier this month, Williams said she was looking forward to becoming a mother, but was already plotting her return to tennis. “I am looking forward to becoming a mother and coming back to the courts already,” she told The Telegraph. “I’m always thinking about what’s next: the next victory, the next trophy.”
